Tifton, Ga. -- A Tifton police officer was charged Wednesday with 1,520 counts of aggravated child molestation involving three girls for more than two years.
Herbert ``Woody'' Rogers, 42, was at Southwestern State Hospital in Thomasville, a psychiatric facility, and would be jailed upon release, Tift County Sheriff Gary Vowell said.
Rogers was accused of molesting a 17-year-old 957 times, a 14-year-old 562 times and an 8-year-old one time.
The three-year veteran of the Tifton Police Department came under investigation by the sheriff and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation on Monday after sheriff's officials answered a domestic dispute call at his home.
