Boy hangs himself after insulting school report

A 12-year-old boy hanged himself after his art teacher said in a school report that he had "the attention span of a goldfish", an inquest heard.

Daniel Overfield, from Osmondthorpe, Leeds, was found by his mother in November last year hanging from his bunk bed by his dressing gown cord.

Recording a verdict of misadventure at the inquest in Leeds, coroner David Hinchcliffe said the youngster probably did not mean to kill himself. He said Daniel was trying to draw attention to himself.
