Indiana fails to ban corporal punishment in schools
FortWayne.com (The Journal Gazette), April 3, 2004

JEERS to the State of Indiana for failing to ban corporal punishment in its schools. We're reminded of that shameful omission by a paddling incident in Indianapolis that sent a third-grader to Methodist Hospital for treatment of bruises and swelling. Indiana is in the sad company of 22 other states - Mississippi, Arkansas, Alabama among them - that still allow adults to hit children in school. In what other context is such an abhorrent practice allowed?
