A Muldrow man is facing child abuse charges that stem from an alleged incident earlier this month.

Benjamin Kyle Bray, 31, of Muldrow was arrested for child abuse and booked into the Sequoyah County Jail Feb. 5.

On Feb. 5 a Sequoyah County Sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to Bray’s residence after a staff member from Muldrow School noticed several bruises on the lower back, buttocks and upper legs of a four-year-old girl.

A Department of Human Service (DHS) worker arrived to assist the deputy while questioning Bray. Bray told the deputy and the DHS worker that he gave the four-year-old girl a spanking for putting toilet paper in the bathroom trash can after she had wiped her buttocks with it.

Bray also told the deputy that his stepson also got a whipping the same night for the same reason.

The deputy did not see any visible signs or marks on the boy’s body but did see large marks and bruises on the four-year-old girl.

Bray was charged with the felony in Sequoyah
